These quilts are of landscape in the Ruapehu environment.
In 1995 and 1996 when Ruapehu erupted, I was ready with the camera all hours of the day. In my classroom I moved the students' desks so they could watch the mountain with me. We wrote stories and drew pictures of what we were seeing. I used the students' writing printed onto the fabric in the house quilts.
